BAY KIDS IN AID OF YMCA MALTA

The booming success of the Bay Kid’s initiative has allowed 89.7 Bay to continue reaching its objective to strive towards helping children in need to have a better day to day life. This year’s Bay Kids Week is set to take place from Monday, 23rd – Saturday, 28th April. This year’s beneficiary is Valletta based, youth homeless shelter – YMCA Malta. Proceeds from the 2011 Bay Music Awards Compilation featuring various local artists will go towards supporting this cause. The album is now available for download directly from iTunes for ONLY €9.99, via the following link: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Individual songs are available for download starting at just €0.99. The album includes the upbeat Bay Kids Song – ‘Reach Out’ - by Toby & JJoy ft. Lyndsay, which can be heard on http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10150372344231112

Each year, proceeds collected as a result of the Bay Kids initiative are allocated to a different charity. September 2011 saw 89.7 Bay proudly donate a brand new Citroen Berlingo 7-seater van to Dar Sagra Familja in Zabbar. The van’s unique exterior was designed specifically for this purpose and the bright, modern, graffiti inspired imagery selected to appeal to the age group residing at the home.

In order to raise the necessary funds to support this initiative, 89.7 Bay engaged in numerous activities, such as the innovative ‘bed push’ in Republic street, Valletta, which saw some of Bay’s most popular DJ’s take part in supporting a worthy cause. Nathan, Talitha and Drew sat on a bed, whilst many other DJ’s, Bay employees and KSU staff helped to push them down the street – collecting money from onlookers along their way. Proceeds raised from the Bay Kids CD were also invested in the purchase of the van, as were donations received from 89.7 Bay’s ‘you pay...we pay’,where listeners request their favourite song using an SMS number with a donation attached to it.
